Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has said his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not based on any political agreement or personal arrangement between them.
Adeleke stated that his support for the President is largely influenced by their shared Yoruba identity and Tinubu’s roots in the South-West.
The Osun governor made the clarification while explaining his position on the Tinubu administration and its ongoing infrastructure projects across the country.
“I never reached an agreement with President Tinubu. My support is just based on he is a Yoruba man and he is from South-West,” Adeleke said.
He added that his support was also intended to encourage the President to extend federal infrastructure interventions to the South-West, particularly in the area of road construction and rehabilitation.
“And I believe that all the federal roads that he has started, I want to encourage him not to forget South-West too,” he said.
Adeleke’s remarks highlight the regional considerations behind his support for the President while stressing that no formal political agreement was responsible for his position.
The governor’s comments come amid continued political realignments and discussions over support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His position also places emphasis on the need for the South-West to benefit from the Federal Government’s ongoing infrastructure programme, particularly the rehabilitation and reconstruction of federal roads across the region.
The statement is expected to generate further discussion about the relationship between regional interests, political support and the 2027 political landscape.
