LAWSAN-UCC Honours Speaker Elvert Ayambem

The Law Students Association of Nigeria, University of Calabar chapter, has presented an honorary award to Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, in recognition of his exceptional commitment to education.

The honorary award was presented to Ayambem during a courtesy call by LAWSAN executives on Tuesday at the Assembly Complex.

According to Sen. Nwogo Excel, President of LAWSAN, Unical, the award was given in recognition of Elvert Ayambem’s outstanding contributions to education, particularly his invaluable assistance to law students at the university. He went on to describe the Speaker as a humble and approachable individual who is always open to the needs of the people.

Prince David, another law student in attendance, lavished praise on the Speaker, thanking him for his tireless efforts to support student development.

Receiving the award, Ayambem thanked the Association for the recognition and congratulated them on their accomplishments. He went on to assure the association of his continued commitment to student development.

Earlier in the day, the Speaker received the Cross River Medical and Dental Students’ Association WW, led by Akpegior Aniashe Akpanke, as well as the State Chapter of the Vigilante Group, on a courtesy call in the Speaker’s office at the Assembly Complex.

Ahead of Obudu New Yam Festival, APC Chairmanship Aspirant Akpong Bepeh Doles Out Cash Gift to Party

Ahead of Obudu New Yam Festival which comes up on Saturday 7th, September 2024, the All Progressive (APC) Chairmanship Aspirant, Mr. Mathias Akpong Bepeh, has given out a cash gift of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) to the local government chapter of APC.

The Chairmanship aspirant, represented by Chief Akpong Victor Beshibewhel, made the cash donation on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Chapter Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Mr. Henry Iblibli, at his shop in the Obudu Timber Market. He stated that the cash gift was to support the party’s celebration of the New Yam Festival in Obudu Local Government.

In his remarks, Mr. Iblibli expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Bepeh for his kind gesture and benevolence. He commended Mr. Bepeh for remembering to show love and support to the party in Obudu Local Government, and wished him success in his aspirations. The Chapter Chairman assured Mr. Bepeh that the donation would be judiciously utilised to ensure a peaceful and joyous celebration of the New Yam Festival.

Mr. Iblibli further praised Mr. Bepeh for his leadership qualities and commitment to the development of Obudu Local Government. He emphasised that Mr. Bepeh’s donation was a testament to his generosity and dedication to the party’s growth and success.

LG Polls: Chief Sunny Ayang Chairmanship Bid Receives Significant Boost as Stakeholders, Party Faithfuls OK His Aspiration.

The Obaliku Chairmanship bid of Chief (Dr.) Sunny Ebebe Ayang JP, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), is gaining momentum with a significant show of support from political stakeholders and party members in Obanliku, as they applaud his empirical and practical leadership style.

Stakeholders and party supporters, including Chief Ukani Inakefe, Dr. Joseph Agba, Hon. Sylvanus Anyawho, Mr. John Paul Anakai (JP), Mr. Thomas Ashibi, the NYCN Secretary-General, Gabriel Ugbo, Chief Sankara, Mrs. Takus, among others, voiced their confidence in Chief Sunny Ayang’s ability to lead the local government effectively. They emphasized that his previous achievements demonstrate his commitment to serving the community.

The Stakeholders and party supporters made this known at Chief Sunny Ayang’s consultative meeting on Sunday at Cornerstone College in Busanfong village, Obanliku local government area.

According to them, Chief Sunny Ayang is a household name in the LGA, known for his practical leadership style, and “leadership, in this context, is not contingent upon youthfulness, but rather on a sincere desire to serve. At this critical juncture, Obanliku necessitates a chairman with a proven track record, rather than an untested individual. Chief Sunny Ayang’s tenure as Chapter Chairman has been distinguished by remarkable achievements, underscoring the notion that people make places, not places, make people,” they said.

One of the women present, Mrs. Takus, who spoke on behalf of other women, pledged their steadfast support, stating that Obanliku stands poised for elevation to unprecedented heights of prosperity, and highlighted the importance of considering women’s perspectives in local governance.

In his address, Chief Sunny Ayang formally expressed his willingness and preparedness to run for the chairmanship of Obanliku Local Government Council and outlined his vision for the development of Obanliku, focusing on infrastructure, empowerment of women and youth, inclusive growth, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security. He also emphasized the need to work closely with the Peoples First state government led by Senator Bassey Otu to drive progress in the local government.

During the meeting, Chief Sunny Ayang also used the opportunity to inaugurate his coordinators across the ten wards of Obanliku. The meeting, which attracted many individuals, including critical stakeholders, women, and youths, was indeed a testament to the acceptability of Chief Sunny Ayang’s aspiration.
