Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, congratulated Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on their decisive win at the Nigerian Supreme Court.

Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, emphasized the importance of the ruling, stating that it is a confirmation that the rule of law protects the people’s will through a transparent and democratic electoral process.

“The Supreme Court’s decision highlights the significance of our democratic institutions. It upholds the principles of free and fair elections, ensuring that the voice of the people prevails,” stated Speaker Ayambem.

Elvert further explained that attempts to divert the governor from carrying out the people’s first agenda have come to an end with the legal victory. The Speaker expressed hope that with Governor Otu and Deputy Odey continuing to lead, Cross River State would see substantial growth and advancement.

“In the past month, various distractions sought to divert the Governor’s focus from the important work at hand. Today’s judgment brings clarity, and the people of Cross River State can expect a positive turnaround in their fortunes,” the Speaker added.

Speaker Ayambem emphasized the Supreme Court’s role in affirming the Governor and Deputy as the chosen leaders, reflecting the will of the people of Cross River State for the next four years.
