2023 UNICROSS Alumni Presidency: Nine former SUG Presidents throw weight behind Inyali Peter – Richard

 

With less than 6 days to the commencement of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association elections, no fewer than nine former Students’ Union Government (SUG) Presidents of the institution have thrown their weight behind the frontline candidate, Inyali Peter, as the best man to occupy the Association’s top seat.

The Director General (DG) of the Inyali Peter UNICROSS Alumni Presidential Campaign Committee, Ekpenyong Richard, who made the disclosure, said the former SUG leaders have openly endorsed Dr. Inyali Peter, and are plumping for him for his emergence as one with vision and clear cut blueprint of taking the Association to the desired heights.

They also implored all right thinking Alumni who have the interest of the Association at heart to never be deceived by propaganda and machinations from opposing camps and enemies of the Association, as Inyali Peter portends great hope and future for the burgeoning Alumni Association.

According to the DG of the Inyali Peter UNICROSS Alumni Presidential Campaign Committee, Ekpenyong Richard: “Dr. Inyali possesses the qualities of a leader who will be a true president of UNICROSS Alumni by guaranteeing justice, equity, and fairness for all.”

“I therefore, strongly recommend Dr. Inyali Peter to all Alumni of our prestigious Alma Mater as the man who can effectively tackle the challenges facing the UNICROSS Alumni Association.”

Budget Retreat: Speaker Ayambem urges Legislators to support Governor Otu’s development plan

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has urged the State’s Assembly Members to support Sen. Prince Bassey Otu’s development plan, which is deeply entwined with the “People’s First Budget, noting that the “N250 billion budget, revealed on October 26, 2023, is evidence of the Otu’s dedication to uplifting Cross Riverians.

Ayambem announced this on Wednesday during the State’s House of Assembly-organized three-day Budget Retreat in the Ikom Local Government Area.

As per Rt. Hon. Ayambem, “the 2024 Appropriation Bill, affectionately known as the “People’s Budget,” reflects a commitment, a pact between the Legislative and the Executive arms to work harmoniously for the greater good of the people we represent; it is not merely a mere title.”

Hon. Ayambem further charged the Assembly Members to use the three-day retreat to examine the budget’s complexities and discover its significant advantages for Cross Riverians. Stating that the 2024 budget is audacious in its scope, promising a significant leap forward for the state. “It is a roadmap, a guiding light towards a future where our people thrive in a landscape of prosperity.”

“As we deliberate, let us stand in unity, working in tandem with the Executive to refine and perfect this audacious plan. Today, more than ever before, we must align ourselves with the vision of the Governor, making changes where necessary and collaborating seamlessly to realize our shared objectives.,” Ayambem noted.

Additionally, Ayambem encouraged the Legislatures to be patriots, worthy representatives, and architects of positive change, that will script a legacy that resonates with the aspirations of every Cross Riverians.

Sports: C’River Assembly Members Beat APC State Excos

The Cross River State House of Assembly Members have defeated the State Executives of the All Progressive Congress (APC) 2-0 in the Governor’s Cup, which was held at the UJ Esuene Stadium.

Speaking about the victory, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, stated that the Assembly Members’ success was a result of their rigorous training in the days leading up to the game. Speaker Ayambem stressed the importance of the occasion in promoting unity between the Legislative and Executive branches of government, in addition to the athletic event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Speaker Ayambem said, “This victory is not just about the funfair; it is about keeping fit and uniting the legislature and the executive as essential arms of government.” The game provided a forum for constructive rivalry as well as forging ties between important state government agencies.

Speaker Ayambem expressed appreciation to Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Otu for his efforts in organising the Governor’s Cup. He applauded the governor for bringing back the Governor’s Cup, emphasising its twofold function of identifying up-and-coming talent and advancing public health.
