The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has bestowed an honour upon Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly. Ayambem was presented with the award at the Member Representing Akamkpa State Constituency, Hon. Okon Owuna’s thanksgiving event which was held on Sunday, in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
The award, according to the Chairman of the CAN Akamkpa Chapter, was given in honour of Rt. Hon. Ayambem’s outstanding performance in legislative matters. As Speaker Ayambem accepted the award, he thanked CAN for its recognition and gave them his word that he would never back down from his commitment to working with the Executives to advance the state’s development.
In addition, the day’s celebrant, Hon. Okon Owuna, was compared by Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem to a round peg in a round hole. He asked the people of Akamkpa to unite behind their representatives and give them the support they need to be more effective in carrying out their responsibilities to their immediate constituencies.
Among the event’s highlights were the gifts of food, wrappers, and cash for the construction of a worship centre in the Akamkpa Local Government Area.
