The Member representing Obudu, Obanliku and Bekwara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Akpanke, has joined family members, political associates and well-wishers at a solemn vigil held in honour of the late Mr. Placidus Ogar, elder brother of former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade.
The vigil, held in remembrance of the deceased, brought together prominent political leaders, government officials, traditional figures, friends and associates who gathered to pay their respects and honour the life and legacy of the late Mr. Ogar.
Hon. Akpanke, accompanied by supporters and constituents, expressed his condolences to Senator Prof. Ben Ayade and the entire Ayade family, noting the significance of the loss to the family and the wider community.
The federal lawmaker described the deceased as “a great patriarch, a man of wisdom, and a stabilizing force within the Ayade family and Cross River State at large.”
He prayed that Almighty God grant the deceased eternal rest and give the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
The gathering featured prayers, tributes and reflections on the life and contributions of the late Mr. Ogar, as friends, family members and associates shared memories of the deceased.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, alongside other notable personalities.
The presence of Rep. Akpanke at the vigil underscored his solidarity with the Ayade family and his commitment to standing with constituents, leaders and families during significant moments of grief.
The late Mr. Placidus Ogar was remembered as a respected family patriarch whose passing has left a deep void among his relatives, friends and associates.
