The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State, Chief (Dr.) Emmanuel Ironbar, has endorsed the Evidence Group, describing the emerging youth based political platform as a movement with the potential to become one of the biggest political movements in the state.
Ironbar made the remarks when the leadership of the Evidence Group paid him a solidarity visit at his office in Calabar ahead of the group’s planned solidarity walk scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The delegation was led by the Initiator of the Evidence Group, Mr. Edem Bassey, and included members of the group’s leadership and mobilisation team.
Presenting the purpose and vision of the group, the Director General, Mr. Eyoma Bassey, explained that the Evidence Group is a youth focused platform with an ambition to establish a broad presence across the 196 political wards of Cross River State.
He also formally briefed the Chief of Staff on the forthcoming solidarity walk and identified him as the Chief Host of the Calabar event.
In his remarks, Mr. Edem Bassey expressed appreciation to Chief Ironbar for his continued support and encouragement of young people across the state. He linked the emergence of the Evidence Group to what he described as the inclusive leadership approach of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, particularly the administration’s engagement of young people in government and public service.
Responding, Chief Ironbar welcomed the initiative and pledged his support to the group, assuring the delegation that he was prepared to contribute not only his time, but also his resources and valuable contacts towards helping the Evidence Group realise its objectives.
He emphasised the importance of mobilising young people across the state, noting that greater youth participation remains essential to the broader objectives of the administration.
The Chief of Staff encouraged the leadership of the Evidence Group to remain focused, organised and inclusive as it builds its structures and engages young people across communities.
The visit further strengthened the group’s preparations for the September 19 solidarity walk, which is expected to bring together young supporters from across the state under the theme, “WE DEY WORK, E DEY SHOW.”
The Evidence Group says the walk is part of its broader effort to mobilise young people, promote political participation and showcase what it describes as evidence of development and governance under the present administration.
