The people of Ukpe Ward in Obudu Local Government Area have received a major constituency intervention as the drilling of a solar-powered motorised borehole facilitated by the Member representing Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Akpanke, has been completed.
The project is located in Ukabe, Bayobri Village, and is expected to provide residents with improved access to clean and sustainable potable water upon completion of the remaining installation works.
The intervention comes as a response to the water needs of the community, where residents have faced difficulties accessing reliable sources of potable water.
The completion of the drilling has generated excitement among community leaders and residents, who welcomed the development as timely and relieving.
Speaking during the project visit, the Village Head, Chief Sylvester Okpachui, alongside representatives of the community, expressed appreciation to Hon. Akpanke for facilitating the intervention.
The community leaders also offered prayers for the Honourable Member, asking for greater grace and capacity for him to continue supporting the people of Ukpe Ward and the wider federal constituency.
When fully completed and operational, the solar-powered borehole is expected to reduce the burden on residents who travel considerable distances in search of water, particularly women and children.
The project is also expected to contribute to improved hygiene and public health by increasing access to safer water and reducing dependence on potentially unsafe sources.
The Ukpe intervention adds to the series of grassroots projects being facilitated by Hon. Akpanke across the Bekwarra, Obudu and Obanliku Federal Constituency, with water, electricity, education and other basic infrastructure featuring prominently among constituency needs being addressed.
For the people of Bayobri, the completed drilling marks an important stage in the journey towards having a dependable source of potable water within their community.
As installation and other finishing works proceed, residents are looking forward to the day the facility becomes fully operational.
Another community need addressed. Another grassroots intervention underway. Another step towards bringing constituency development closer to the people.
