In a bid to restoring and enhancing the learning environment for scholars, the President, University of Cross River State PostGraduate Student Association, Comrade Austin Kekong, along side the Financial Secretary Comr. ESOR, yesterday, 9th June 2023, on behalf of the Association donated shelves to the PostGraduate School for the Project/Thesis Reference Room.
Receiving the shelves, Ntufam victor Ndifon, Mrs Lizzy Beshel and Mrs Rose, respectively commended the initiative by the Association, stating that it was a good step in the right direction and a timely intervention.
Earlier in a discussion with some management staff of the PostGraduate School in regards to why the project room is poorly equipped despite the charges paid by students, it was disclosed that the PostGraduate School had since applied to the school management for provision of shelves but has not been approved for over 3 years now.
Comrade Kekong explained that “it will be very absurd as students to spend so much on research work and yet, as we graduate, all our thesis goes to the ground without proper arrangements and protection.”
Kekong further explained that his “Exco will ensure the Project Reference Room takes a befitting shape that will not discredit our efforts as scholars.”
“The Association has been blessed with very reputable personalities such as Local Government Chairmen, Registrar of Unical, Head of Civil Service, CEO’s of Radio Stations, Media Personalities, political appointees, etc. and we cannot afford to back pedal.”, Kekong concluded.
