The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has formally accepted the resignation of its former State Chairman, Barr. Venatius Ikem, and ratified Chief Dr. Francis Bullem as the substantive State Chairman of the party.
The decisions were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the party’s State Secretariat.
According to the communiqué, the SEC, after deliberations on issues contained in its agenda, acknowledged and accepted Ikem’s resignation from office.
The committee subsequently approved the nomination and ratification of Chief Dr. Francis Bullem as the substantive State Chairman, in accordance with Article 47, Subsections 5 and 6 of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
In another significant political resolution, the Cross River PDP SEC formally endorsed the Rainbow Coalition led by the party’s National Leader and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS.
The endorsement signals the state chapter’s alignment with the political movement championed by the FCT Minister.
The SEC also expressed displeasure over what it described as incessant attacks on PDP members and other opposition political party members while carrying out their legitimate political activities across the state.
The committee condemned such actions and called attention to the need to respect the rights of opposition members to participate freely in the democratic process.
The communiqué was signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Prince Mike Ojisi.
