The Executive Chairman of Obanliku Local Government Area, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Sunny Ayang, JP, in partnership with Fusion 196, a renowned political support group, hosted a grand celebration in honour of the 66th birthday anniversary of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Apostle Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, at Sangji’s Hotels, Obanliku LGA.
Hon. Sunny Ayang in his remarks, congratulated Governor Otu on the milestone, commending his developmental strides and people-oriented policies. He thanked Fusion 196 for choosing Obanliku as the host local government, describing the gesture as a mark of honour and inclusion, and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening grassroots development in Obanliku .
“This celebration is a call to action,” the Chairman said. “I appeal to His Excellency to extend development to Obanliku, especially in urbanization, infrastructure, road construction, General Hospital refurbishment, and school renovation. Your People First mandate keeps motivating us to do more for our people.”
The State Coordinator of Fusion 196, Mr. Joseph Agbor, praised Governor Otu’s transformational leadership and praised Hon. Ayang for his exceptional performance and commitment to good governance.
“Hon. Sunny Ayang has not failed the people of Obanliku. It’s no surprise he is fondly called ‘The Home Man for the Home Job.’ I urge the people of Obanliku to continue supporting him with prayers and encouragement so he can do even more,” Agbor stated.
Also delivering a goodwill message, Dr. Arigo John, State Coordinator of the APPEALS Project, commended Hon. Ayang’s leadership, saying:“What we have been hearing in Calabar is true. Hon. Sunny Ayang’s work in Obanliku is truly commendable. His leadership speaks volumes.”
A highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Honour to Ntufam Barr. Fidelis Ugbo, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), as Patron of Fusion 196 in Northern Cross River State. The award, presented by Mr. Agbor, recognised Ntufam Ugbo’s steadfast support for the group and for Governor Otu’s developmental vision.
The event also featured the formal endorsement of Governor Bassey Otu for a second term by Fusion 196, citing his inclusive and people-centred leadership as the reason for their unanimous support.
Dignitaries, political stakeholders, and residents from diverse ethnic groups, including the Hausa, Fulani, and Igbo communities attended the event, emphasizing the unity and broad-based support for the Governor and the Obanliku LGA administration.
