Excitement across Obanliku as beneficiaries of the Hon. Chief (Dr) Sunny Ayang Bursary Scheme began receiving #50,000 each in the first phase of the disbursement.
Social media platforms were flooded with words of appreciation and testimonies as students confirmed receipt of the bursary payment. One of the beneficiaries, Ukukong Patrick Anyianliwho, shared his joy on the “Think Obanliku Platform,” writing: “God bless the people’s chairman. Keep up the good work. You have done the most things. Thank you for investing in education just like Timaya did when he was chairman.”
Another beneficiary, Favour Ujabang, also expressed her gratitude: “Heartfelt appreciation to the LGA Chairman for easing our academic journey. Thank you for investing in our future through the bursary program.” Paul Odey, a Facebook user also commented on the development, stating that “they don’t call him the Home Man for the Home Job for nothing. He came prepared.”, he added.
According to Comr. Joseph Akawu Ushie, President, National Association of Obanliku Students (NAOS-UCC) Chapter in appreciation of the Chairman’s gesture, noted that “We commend your visionary leadership, your continued investment in education, and your consistent support for the growth and development of Obanliku youths. Indeed, your actions speak volumes of your dedication to building a brighter future for our dear local government.”
Unimnake Celcius popularly known as Jasper, shared “As a beneficiary of the bursary scheme, I am deeply grateful for the #50,000 support I received. This gesture has not only eased my academic burden but has also rekindled my hope and motivation to strive harder in my studies.”
Reacting directly to the outpour of appreciation on the WhatsApp platform, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chief (Dr) Sunny Ayang JP, said: “A little thing is a little thing, but appreciation of a little thing can embolden me to do more. By His grace, the bursary Phase 2 is loading.”
According to reports, the bursary initiative, which targets students of Obanliku origin in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria, is among the numerous “Peoples First” initiatives that speak of the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and educational support.
