The Governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu has flagged off the construction of an ICT Centre and ultramodern hostel at the College of Nursing Science, Obudu.
The project, powered by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and facilitated by Architect Clement Liwhu Undie, was officially handed over to the contractor today, 05 September 2025, with the Governor represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk.
The college’s provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Undeshi, praised the Governor for transforming the institution from a midwifery training school with 65 students into a full-fledged college with over 1,000 students and multiple new programmes. She also revealed that the school will begin HND programmes by October, with graduates eligible for NYSC.
Arch. Undie expressed gratitude for bringing the project to his hometown. At the same time, Obudu Council Chairman, Hon. Amb. Peter Undiandeye, applauded the initiative and appealed for a Coaster bus to support students’ mobility.
Commissioner Egbe Ayuk, speaking for the Governor, commended the leadership of the Provost, especially her role in securing land and expanding facilities, and thanked traditional rulers and the community for their support.
