The Chief Executive Officer of Jenellas Event Ltd, Mrs. Esther Akiba, has marked her birthday by empowering 120 beneficiaries with start-up kits after 192 participants successfully completed training under the company’s skills acquisition programme.
The empowerment and graduation ceremony, held at the Women Development Centre in Calabar, was attended by the wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Her Excellency Bishop Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu, who was represented by a delegate at the event. Also in attendance were the wife of the Chief of Staff, Associate Professor Virginia Ironbar, Commissioners, government appointees, families, friends and well-wishers.
The gathering brought together the graduands, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to celebrate the milestone and recognise the importance of skills development and economic empowerment.
Mrs. Akiba expressed appreciation to Governor Bassey Otu and his wife, Her Excellency Bishop Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu, for their support for skills acquisition, empowerment and economic development in the state.
In her vote of thanks, she particularly commended the First Lady for her encouragement and commitment to initiatives that equip people with practical skills and create opportunities for self-reliance.
She also appreciated the facilitators and trainers for their dedication and commitment to equipping participants with relevant knowledge and skills throughout the programme.
Congratulating the 192 trainees, Mrs. Akiba urged them to put their newly acquired skills to productive use. She noted that 120 beneficiaries received start-up kits to help them establish or strengthen their businesses.
She further explained that participants who could not be accommodated in the first round of the empowerment would be considered in subsequent editions of the programme.
The CEO also thanked the guests, family members, friends, well-wishers and everyone whose contributions helped make the birthday celebration and empowerment programme successful.
The event combined Mrs. Akiba’s birthday celebration with practical support for skills development, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods among Cross Riverians.
