A group known as the Cross River State APC Non-Indigenous Women has pledged its support for the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The pledge was made during a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem at his official residence in Calabar.
The delegation, led by Mrs. Ezaegu Maria Nnenna, popularly known as Ada-Igbo, comprised women from different ethnic communities resident in Cross River State. The group said the visit was to appreciate the Speaker for his goodwill, encouragement, and support toward non-indigenous residents in the state.
Speaking during the visit, the women also appealed through the Speaker to the state government for greater inclusion of non-indigenous women in political appointments and campaign structures as the state moves toward the next election cycle. They noted that women remain strong mobilizers in the political process.
Responding, Speaker Ayambem thanked the group for identifying with the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu and assured them that their loyalty and commitment would not go unnoticed.
He commended the women for their enthusiasm and for demonstrating unity despite their diverse backgrounds. The Speaker also encouraged them to continue to live peacefully and strengthen the spirit of harmony among residents of the state.
Ayambem further assured the delegation that he would create an opportunity for them to meet with the governor so that their contributions and support for the government could be properly acknowledged.
