Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, on Wednesday laid a wreath at the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony held at the Millennium Park Cenotaph in Calabar.
The wreath-laying, a solemn tradition at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, was observed in honour of fallen Nigerian servicemen and women who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation, including those whose remains were never recovered or identified.
Speaking after the ceremony, the Speaker described the occasion as a moment of reflection and gratitude, noting that it also served to renew the collective commitment to supporting the Armed Forces and upholding the ideals of service, courage, and patriotism for which they stood.
