In a demonstration of intergovernmental collaboration, the Executive Chairman of Obanliku Local Government Area, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Sunny Ayang, JP, on Monday, 7th July 2025, received a delegation from the Inspectorate Unit of the Cross River State Ministry of Local Government Affairs.
The visit, aimed at assessing ongoing developmental projects and strengthening governance processes, was marked by a commendation of the Council’s efforts in transforming the local landscape. Welcoming the inspectors, Hon. Ayang emphasized his administration’s commitment to initiating and executing people-oriented projects, noting that the visible progress on ground aligns with the documented evidence presented to the ministry.
The inspection team, made up of Engr. Harrison Ogar (Civil Engineer), Mrs. Victoria Ekpo (Estate Valuer), and Mr. Okpe Joseph (Quantity Surveyor), assessed several projects implemented under the Ayang-led administration. These included the newly constructed Obanliku Local Government Education Authority Office, the ongoing Modern Market project, vehicles procured for the council’s transport scheme, the HOLGA Clinic in Utanga, renovated temporary offices for the Chairman and Vice Chairman, and the newly installed solar-powered systems across the council.
Expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of the projects, the inspectors lauded Hon. Ayang’s vision and proactive leadership. They noted that such developmental efforts not only reflect good governance but also serve as a model for other local government areas.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Ayang thanked the team for their objective appraisal and pledged his administration’s continued cooperation with the Ministry. He also advocated for stronger support from both the state and federal governments to address infrastructural gaps and promote the exchange of best practices that will further enhance community development in Obanliku.
