In a move to boost infrastructure and development in Northern Cross River State, Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has officially approved and flagged off the commencement of the long-anticipated 23.5-kilometre Okuku-Okpoma-Mfom Road Project.
The road, which has remained a top developmental priority for the region, is now under construction following a formal request made by the Northern Cross River Coalition (NORTHCCO) through a resolution adopted at its General Assembly.
In a joint statement, NORTHCCO leaders expressed profound gratitude to Governor Otu, commending his “responsive and visionary leadership” in responding promptly to the needs of the region. They noted that the project, once completed, will significantly enhance connectivity, promote local commerce, and improve access to basic services for residents across the affected communities.
“Your Excellency, your gracious approval of the commencement of construction work on the Okuku-Okpoma-Mfom Road Project, following our communique conveying the resolution of our General Assembly, is a testament to your responsive and visionary leadership. We continue to pledge our support and loyalty,” the statement read.
The statement was jointly signed by High Chief Higgins Peters, Leader, NORTHCCO; Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbo, Chairman, Central Working Committee (CWC); Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), and Hon. Dr. Martin Orim, Director General, NORTHCCO.
