In a significant and inaugural event, the Executive Chairman of Obanliku, Chief Hon. (Dr.) Sunny Ayang, was presented with an Award of Honour by St. Mary Quasi-Parish, Lishiche-Bishiri on Sunday, 23rd February 2025.
The parish priest who presented the award, Rev. Fr. Godwin Odugbo, stated that the award was in recognition of Hon Ayang’s positive impact and achievements during the first 100 days of his leadership. He highlighted Hon. Ayang’s hard work and dedication to good governance.
During his sermon, Rev. Fr. Odugbo spoke about the importance of forgiveness, stating, “The strongest man is the one who forgives, and the weakest man is the one who does not.” He encouraged everyone to practice love and forgiveness, avoiding feelings of hatred and jealousy.
In his response to receiving the award, Hon. Sunny expressed his gratitude to Rev. Fr. Odugbo and the parish community, pointing out that “the essence of Christianity is forgiveness,” and he took the message to heart.
The ceremony, which took place in the church after Sunday Mass, featured the presentation of a golden crucifix, a Bible, and a plaque.
Hon. Ayang was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Ayang, as well as local officials, friends, and political associates, all celebrating this noteworthy occasion together.
