The Cross River State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has written to the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSSIEC), requesting that Local Government elections be held in recognition of the critical role of grassroots governance in the State’s development and progress.
The state chapter of IPAC, in a letter signed by its chairman, Engr. Effiom Edet Okon, urged the electoral Commission to take immediate action to conduct local government elections within three months, adding that the election will uphold democratic processes and give the state the opportunity to benefit from effective local governance.
IPAC also noted that the local government election is long overdue, and any further delay could lead to a crisis. “We request your prompt attention to this matter, and we are willing to work with your Commission to ensure a successful and credible election,” IPAC stated.
