Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu has commended Brigham Young University for its unwavering commitment to excellence in shaping the destinies of individuals and societies.
Governor Bassey Otu made this known at the Brigham Young University-Pathway Worldwide 2nd Graduation Ceremony in Calabar, Cross River State, which was filled with pride and accomplishment.
Representing the Governor, the speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem acknowledged the transformative power of education, emphasizing that education is more than the accumulation of facts but a journey of self-discovery and character development. He praised Brigham Young University for being a beacon of enlightenment that shapes the character and fosters the intellectual growth of its students.
Ayambem further highlighted the significant impact the Institution has had on the socio-economic landscape of Cross River State since its establishment in 2009.
Furthermore, in his address to the graduating class, Ayambem stated, “You are not just recipients of degrees and certificates; you are ambassadors of knowledge, equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of our society.” He urged the graduates to carry the values instilled in them and utilize their potential to make a positive impact as they step into the world beyond academic walls.
The International Manager of Brigham Young University, Dr. Victor Ukorebi, expressed gratitude to the Governor of Cross River State for honoring their invitation. He thanked Governor Otu for his fatherly advice, and extended prayers for his continued grace in leading Cross River State to the next level.
Families of the graduating students, distinguished guests, and the academic community from all over the country were present in large numbers at the event.
