The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has charged the Nigerian Army to put more efforts in ensuring that Cross River State return to it’s rightful place as the safest city in Nigeria.
Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem made this known on Thursday while on a familiarization visit to the 13 Brigade Command in Calabar,
Elvert Ayambem while addressing the 13 Brigade Command Army, recounted different cases of kidnappings and armed robbery in the state, laying emphasis on the recent abduction of a medical doctor, Dr. Mrs. Ephraim in Calabar.
Elvert further highlighted various efforts by the state government to curb crimes and urged the command to double efforts in the fight against crime in the state.
Brig. Gen. E.I. Okoro, Commander of the 13 Brigade Command who played host to the Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem and members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, highlighted achievements by the Command in regards to combating criminal elements in the state and also challenges faced by the Command. He assured the Assembly Members of the Army’s readiness to collaborate with the state government and other security agencies to restore a safe environment for Cross Riverians.
The event which held at the Conference Hall of the 13 Brigade Command, Marian, had in attendance members of the Cross River State House of Assembly and top military officers .
