Women in Obudu Local Government Area on Wednesday added a strong voice to the ongoing political consultations of Hon. Chief Martin Orim, CMO, as they chanted, “We are tired of ghost representation,” while welcoming him to a meeting with APC stakeholders and party faithful.
Hon. Chief Martin Orim, a leading aspirant for the Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency seat, formally consulted APC stakeholders and party members in Obudu LGA ahead of the forthcoming party primaries.
The consultation provided a platform for Hon. Orim to intimate party leaders, chapter executives, grassroots representatives, women, youths, and other party faithful of his aspiration, while seeking their support, guidance, and collective input.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Orim emphasized unity, loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, and the need for inclusive representation that protects the interests of the people across Bekwarra, Obudu, and Obanliku.
He noted that effective representation must be visible, accessible, and people-centered, adding that the people deserve a representative who will listen, engage, and speak for them with sincerity.
According to him, his aspiration is driven by a commitment to strengthen the bond between the people and the National Assembly through consultation, accountability, and practical attention to the needs of the constituency.
The high point of the meeting was the enthusiastic display from women, who openly declared their desire for visible and responsive representation. Their chant and writing on placards, “We are tired of ghost representation,” captured the mood of many party faithful who expressed support for Hon. Orim’s aspiration.
Several speakers, including Chief Spokesman Agogo, Hon. Dr. Ken Aklah, Prof. Emmanuel Ikwen, Prof. Patrick Egaga, Hon. Victor Agwu, and representatives of youth groups, women groups, and party faithful, commended Hon. Orim for his humility, openness, and commitment to broad consultations.
They assured him of their support as he continues his engagements ahead of the 2027 election, describing his approach as respectful, inclusive, and in line with the expectations of the grassroots.
The consultation had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Obudu LGA, Hon. Dr. Peter Undiandeye, Pita Pars, who served as host; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Rhoda Ashong; the APC Chapter Chairman, Comrade Joe Odama; members of the chapter executive; and other party faithful.
