The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has empowered the 11 APC Ward Chairmen in Ikom Local Government Area with brand new motorcycles in a move described as a major boost to grassroots leadership and party coordination.
At the presentation ceremony, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State, Hon. Chief Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, represented Governor Bassey Otu and formally presented the keys of the motorcycles to the beneficiaries.
In addition to the motorcycles donated by the Speaker, Governor Bassey Otu, through his Chief of Staff, also supported each of the 11 ward chairmen with a cash grant of ₦100,000.
According to the Speaker, the empowerment is expected to enhance the mobility, reach, and effectiveness of the ward chairmen in carrying out party responsibilities and engaging with members at the community level.
The ward chairmen and party stakeholders praised the intervention as a strong demonstration of support for party structures at the grassroots and a clear sign of the commitment of both the Speaker and the Governor to strengthening leadership and mobilization across Ikom LGA.
