The Vice Chancellor Elect of the University of Calabar, Prof Offiong Effanga Offiong, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sylvester Agabi Jnr, at his official residence, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in the interest of the state and the university community.
Prof Offiong E Offiong expressed gratitude to the Deputy Speaker for his steady support. He noted that the progress made so far had been possible through shared effort and appealed for continued partnership in the tasks ahead. He spoke on the demands placed on public office holders at national, state, and community levels, and stated that reliance on sound judgement and faith remained essential for effective service.
The Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Agabi thanked the VC Elect for the visit and assured him of his continued cooperation in advancing development. He described Prof Effanga as a round peg in a round hole and expressed confidence that his leadership would help restore the university’s dignity.
The Deputy Speaker recalled the VC Elect’s notable achievements during his tenure as Commissioner for Education, especially in areas that strengthened human capacity and community development. He also offered prayers for continued guidance as both institutions work to serve the people of Cross River State.
