In a message signed and released by his Chief Press Secretary to commemorate the occasion, Hon. Ayang described Democracy Day as a powerful reminder of Nigeria’s enduring commitment to democratic governance, the rule of law, and the collective will of the people.
“It is a time to honour the sacrifices of our heroes past and reflect on the democratic strides we have made as a nation,” he stated.
Highlighting the pivotal role of local governments in deepening democracy, Hon. Ayang stressed that grassroots leadership must embody transparency, inclusivity, and responsiveness.

The Council Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to his 6-Point Development Blueprint, designed to deliver democratic dividends across all sectors of the Obanliku economy.
He also called for renewed civic responsibility among Nigerians, urging citizens to actively engage in governance, respect the rule of law, and contribute to national development.
“Democracy Day is a moment of introspection and unity, a time to celebrate our progress, acknowledge our challenges, and reaffirm our shared resolve to build a just, equitable, and inclusive society,” he said.
Hon. Ayang concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Democracy Day celebration and encouraged all to remain steadfast in strengthening the country’s democratic institutions for future generations.
