Evang. Hon. Mrs Margaret Inde, the immediate past executive chairman of the Obanliku Local Government Area, reflects on the event that nearly took her and her family members’ lives. In her heartfelt gratitude, the former chairman of the Council expressed gratitude to God for keeping her alive during the most difficult and dangerous time in her life—the previous election campaign and aftermath.
You may remember that on February 22, 2023, at around 7:30 p.m., a group of armed assassins broke into the home of Evang Hon. Mrs Margaret Inde, the former chairman of the council, to kill her. They believed that Hon Inde had returned home, but our God, who has always provided an escape route for his people, let them down by revealing that her driver was the only one who had brought the car home. An eyewitness verified that the boys who arrived on motorcycles with guns started shooting intermittently at the house widows and the car, destroying it, because they were looking for a way to let out their anger, which made their mission impossible.
In all of this, some said, it’s politics. Some contended that the act had the potential to incite conflict between communities. As usual, Hon. Inde, a fervent advocate for the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, set aside all other viewpoints and extended forgiveness to the well-known offenders in the local government. She took the side of peace, harmony, and peaceful coexistence. The importance of following the scriptures has always been emphasised by her. Although the car damage was irreparable, the house was rebuilt.
