The Cross River State Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu has, today, unveiled the 2023 Governor’s Cup in a well-planned event held at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
The Governor who was represented by Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly at the unveiling ceremony, assured the people of Cross River of Governor Otu’s commitment to improving the state’s sports sector and using it to positively impact the state’s future, specifically mentioning the impressive performance of the Calabar Rovers.
Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem encouraged the sport’s participants to give their best during the competition and expressed confidence in the leadership and stakeholders of the Ministry of Sport. He praised all those who attended the ceremony and urged them to continue supporting the competition.
Hon. Mrs. Agnes Atsu, the Commissioner for Sports, also acknowledged that the unveiling ceremony showed Governor Bassey Otu’s commitment to the development of sports, especially football.
She explained that the purpose of the competition is to bring together youths from different Local Government Areas to discover their talents and provide them with national and international exposure.
