The Association of Heads of Federal Establishments (AHFE) Cross River State Chapter hosted its annual year-end celebration, where it committed to fostering interagency collaboration, professionalism, and excellence in anticipation of a fruitful working year in 2025.

During her opening remarks, the Chairperson of the Cross River State Chapter, Dr. Rita Akpan, highlighted that this yearly gathering of Heads of federal establishments serves as a festive occasion to conclude the current year and welcome the next in the working calendar.

“Our vision, philosophy, and objective are to unite all Heads of federal establishment to fulfill our aspirations and goals. As the first female chairman, I take pride in leading this esteemed association.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for us to express gratitude for our lives, share experiences, celebrate, and enjoy a meal together. It also allows us to reflect on the Association’s significant progress over the past years under my leadership.

“The Association has promoted essential collaborations, encouraged professionalism and excellence, and recently addressed the long-standing issue of inadequate lighting at the Federal Secretariat complex. I am optimistic that, with your ongoing support, we can achieve even greater success in the coming year.

She praised the state’s security forces, noting the return of stability and the protection of citizens’ lives and property. Additionally, she expressed gratitude to the members for their unwavering commitment, which has been vital to the Association’s achievements.

“I am truly honored to lead this distinguished Association, and I welcome the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the new year. I am confident we will excel next year,” she stated.

During the event, the Association’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Emeka Chukwuneye, who leads the Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) remarked on the improved working relationship between the Heads of Federal Establishments and the state government, urging those not involved to collaborate in advancing the Association’s initiatives.

“I want to emphasize that there is now a strong working relationship between the Heads of Federal Establishment in Cross River State and the state government, which hasn’t been the case before. With commitment and hard work, I believe we will overcome challenges in 2025 and achieve more if other heads of federal establishments join in supporting the Association’s activities.

The event culminated in the recognition of outstanding Heads of federal establishment with awards for their contributions to the Association’s growth and exceptional performance across various categories.

The colourful celebration concluded with a spirit of camaraderie as guests enjoyed a lavish spread of cuisines and drinks, reveling in a successful year while thanking God for the blessings of the past months.
