The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Agabi, paid Engr Godwin Akeke, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, a visit to express his condolences on the death of his mother, Mama Regina Ungbeb Akeke, who was 78 years old.
Hon. Sylvester Agabi was received by Engr Akeke and his wife at their country home in Ohong Village, Obudu Local Government. Accompanying him were the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Ezeani Ezentan, Hon. Pius Ezugwu, and Hon. Anthony Nwankwo. Also Present was the Community Relations Officer to the Governor, Godwin Orim Jr, former Vice Chairman of Obudu Hon Okpachui Orim, Hon Phydel Aben and Rhoda Ashong.
The Deputy Speaker paid tribute to the late Mama Akeke, describing her as an amazing mother who cherished her offspring and showed unwavering maternal care to both them and other individuals whose paths crossed. He prayed that God Almighty would grant Mama eternal rest in the kingdom of the Lord, saying that her passing was a celebration of life.
In addition to thanking Hon. Agabi and his team for their concern and sympathy, Engr. Godwin Akeke and his wife prayed for Journey Mercies to be upon them as they return to their destinations.
Earlier, the Deputy Speaker paid a visit to Mrs Mary Akpo, the late Chief Francis Akpo’s wife, to offer her condolences for her husband’s passing, who was laid to rest over the weekend. He prayed that the Lord would grant him eternal rest in paradise.
