The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu has reaffirmed his dedication to promoting economic expansion and showcasing Cross River State’s natural beauty to the globe. Otu made this known at the Cross River State Judiciary Maiden Carol Night, in Calabar.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Bassey Otu, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly ,Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, said “It is important to remember the Season of Sweetness as the central theme of this year’s Christmas celebrations amidst our festivities.” He implored Cross Riverians to look past the written word and incorporate the theme into their daily deeds and interactions.
Hon. Ayambem further noted that christmas being season for understanding and peacemaking, Cross Riverians should take advantage of the season to mend strained bonds and strengthen ties in their various communities.
Furthermore, Ayambem described the Cross River State Judge, Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme as the pride of Cross River State, noting that her legacies in the judiciary will stand the taste of time.
“I would also like to call on the judiciary at all levels to perform their duties with fairness, conscience, and a fair trial in mind. By upholding a high standard of personal integrity free from greed and making sure that those found guilty receive the appropriate punishment under the law,” Ayambem concluded.
The Chief Judge, Justic Akon Ikpeme noted that the event was borne out of her personal will considering the “season of sweetness” ushered by the State’s Governor. She appreciated everyone who made it to the event, wishing them a merry Christmas celebration.
