As part of activities marking the birthday of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State, teachers across the Northern and Central Senatorial Districts of the state have received generous welfare packages from Her Excellency, Bishop Eyoawan Otu.
The gesture, described as symbolic and compassionate, included the distribution of rice, wrappers, and cash gifts to over 1,000 primary school teachers across Obanliku Local Government Area, on Tuesday at the Council Secretariat.
The exercise was led by Mr. Kenneth Anam, Special Assistant to Her Excellency, and witnessed by the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon Awowoh Glory, Education Secretary for Obanliku Sir Joseph Abadem, the NUT chairman Mrs Josphine Akawu, SA Security to Obanliku Chairman Mr Joseph Ogbang and several dignitaries
Speaking during the presentation, participants expressed appreciation to the Governor and his wife for remembering the teaching community at such a significant moment, describing the initiative as a true reflection of the People First philosophy of the Otu-led administration.
One of the attendees noted that the gifts were “a birthday cake shared in the form of food, cash, and clothing” to celebrate the Governor’s special day.
