As Nigeria marks this year’s Democracy Day, Chairman of the GFO Orim Foundation, Chief Hon. Martin Orim, has called on citizens to reflect on the power of democracy and use their freedom to foster national development and uplift the less privileged.
In a goodwill message released to commemorate the occasion, Chief Orim described Democracy Day as a “celebration of bravery and the enduring will of Nigerians to live free, speak boldly, and dream without limits.”
“Democracy is not perfect, but it gives us the power to build, to choose, and to uplift,” Orim stated. “Today reminds us that freedom is powerful, the freedom to choose, to speak, to build.”
The philanthropist and grassroots development advocate highlighted the core mission of the GFO Orim Foundation, emphasizing its continued commitment to fighting poverty and creating sustainable opportunities for underserved communities.
“At the GFO Orim Foundation, our mission remains clear: to help others escape poverty, to empower communities, and to create opportunities,” he said. “I believe in a Nigeria where every citizen, no matter their background, can live a life of dignity and purpose.”
Chief Orim also urged Nigerians to use the gains of democracy not only to pursue personal goals but to serve the nation and support one another.
“I believe in using freedom not just to speak, but to serve. Not just to rise, but to lift others,” he added.
He concluded his message by calling for unity, peace, and a renewed commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive Nigeria.
