More than 100 secondary school students in Cross River State have received hands-on training in technology and innovation at the just-concluded Easter STEM Bootcamp, organized by Bishop (Dr.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu.
The week-long event, which took place during the Easter break, aimed to enhance digital literacy and spark interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among young learners. The bootcamp focused on basic computer skills, internet use, coding fundamentals, and interactive science experiments.
The initiative, championed by the First Lady of Cross River State, is part of her wider efforts to bridge the digital divide and equip the next generation with critical technological skills. Students from various communities participated in the program, which was described as both educational and inspiring.
Speaking to reporters at the closing ceremony, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu emphasized the importance of early exposure to technology. “Our children must not be left behind. Through this bootcamp, we are laying a foundation for innovation, critical thinking, and self-confidence in our youth,” she said.
Parents and educators present at the event lauded the initiative, noting that it complements the state’s goals for education and youth development. Many also expressed hope that the program would become a regular feature on the state’s educational calendar.
Participants received certificates of completion and expressed excitement about the opportunity to explore technology in a supportive and stimulating environment.
With projects like the Easter STEM Bootcamp, the First Lady continues to play a leading role in shaping a tech-savvy future for Cross River State’s youth.
