The Chairman of the GFO Orim Foundation and Member of the Council at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Bichi, Kano State, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Martin Orim has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Cross River North United Movement in recognition of his remarkable contributions to human capacity development and infrastructure in the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
The award presentation, led by the Director-General of the movement, Dr. Mrs. Regina Adinyang, took place on Sunday at Chief Martin Orim’s residence in Obudu Local Government Area. Dr. Adinyang emphasized that the award was not only a tribute to Orim’s past achievements but also an encouragement for him to continue striving for greater impact in the district.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Orim expressed deep gratitude to the group, pledging to maintain his unwavering commitment to the development of society. He urged the organization to continue their support for progress and unity in the region.
In a related gathering, Chief Orim hosted the Ukalu Nation, alongside party loyalists and supporters, in a dual-purpose celebration that also served as a consultative forum. Community leaders used the occasion to urge him to contest in the 2027 general elections.
Heeding their calls, Chief Orim officially declared his intent to vie for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives in 2027. He emphasized that his ambition remains aligned with the directives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Cross River State.
“I have listened to your wishes and your desire for me to run for an elective position come 2027. I therefore officially express my desire to contest for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives – subject, however, to the guidance and directives of the leadership of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State Chapter, under the capable leadership of our performing Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and his Deputy, Hon. Peter Odinga Odey,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the Ukalu Nation, Hon. Philip Ikpa, the group’s coordinator, welcomed Orim’s declaration and pledged the community’s full backing toward the realization of his political ambition.
Chief Orim’s residence became a hub of celebration during the Easter holiday, welcoming a stream of dignitaries. Notable visitors included the Executive Chairman of Obanliku, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Sunny Ayang, who thrilled the crowd with generous cash support; the Vice Chairman of Obudu, Miss Rhoda Ashong; and Mr. Emmanuel Bepeh, Hon Pydel Aben, among others.
The day’s activities continued with a visit from the Tiger Support Club of FCE Obudu, who came to felicitate with Chief Orim for the Easter season and reaffirmed their support for his future endeavours.
