The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, has restated his steadfast commitment to ensuring peace and security across the local government area.
Speaking to the press and constituents at the Obudu Local Government Secretariat, Hon. Undiandeye highlighted recent efforts by his administration to address pressing security issues.
In a notable development, the Chairman facilitated the apprehension of Mathias Amunde, a 24-year-old man accused of killing his mother and dumping her remains in a well on December 24, 2024.
He commended his Special Adviser on Peace and Security, Mr. Ikem Emmanuel, and his team for their professionalism and dedication, which led to the suspect’s arrest in Abo village, Boki Local Government Area.
Hon. Undiandeye also praised the collaborative efforts of the Divisional Police Officers of Obudu and Boki Divisions, alongside their teams and local community leaders, for their crucial role in the apprehension of the suspect.
In a related development, the Chairman participated in a strategic security meeting with his counterparts from Kwande and Vandeikya Local Government Areas in Benue State, Hon. Neji Vitalis and Hon. Dennis Akura, respectively.
This meeting was convened following an alleged attack on three Obudu indigenes in Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area, on January 5, 2025. Tragically, the attack claimed one life, while the others were rescued through prompt intervention.
Hon. Undiandeye, who paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and extended his heartfelt condolences. He called for calm and urged the bereaved family and residents to remain peaceful, assuring them that the suspects involved had been apprehended and would face justice.
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order and vowed to continue working with security agencies and neighboring councils to foster peace and stability in the local government area.
