The governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu, has inspected various ongoing reconstruction of state assets, including the governor’s office, the State Library Complex, the new Ministry of Local Government Affairs Secretariat, and the newly constructed road on Harcourt Street, among others in the State capital.

Most of the reconstruction efforts, which are at advanced stages, were flagged off a few months ago and have undergone a total makeover

During the inspection, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to restoring all dilapidated and abandoned state assets and completing all inherited unfinished projects across the state.

“In line with our core mandate to ensure all state assets are restored to serve their purpose, I am here to see the progress of work; having gone round, the quality and standard are excellent,” he stated.

“Most of the assets are in advanced stages, and not long from now, they will begin to serve their purposes, adding value to society”

“It is a work in progress, and we are working towards bequeathing a state that everyone will be proud of.”

During the inspection, the governor also visited the victim of the tragic storm incident on Target Street, where a tree fell and destroyed Mr. Cletus Lowell’s furniture shop, which is currently undergoing remediation work.

Speaking earlier, the Special Adviser on Project Monitoring, Mr. Raphael Adoga, commended the governor for his dedication to turning the state around. “I would like to commend the governor for his dedication to delivering good governance to the state. As we speak, the governor has approved over 181 projects, most of which are under construction or completed.”

Mr. Adoga noted that the State Universal Basic Education Board currently has 49 ongoing projects, with 33 completed and ongoing projects by the Ministry of Works, 79 ongoing projects by the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Agency, and 43 ongoing projects by Community and Social Services.
