Over 3,000 girls have been successfully trained by the Rev. Eyoanwan Otu Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Project, which was started in September of last year by the wife of Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu. The girls are spread across the three senatorial zones of the state.

They received essential training in robotics, gaming, coding, and programming, and scholarships were given to deserving students.

This was revealed in a report that was written by the Rev. Evanwan Otu Girls in STEM Project Team to evaluate the program a year after the First Lady of Cross River started it.

The report states: “The Rev. Eyoanwan Otu Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Project was launched in September 2023 as an ambitious initiative to inspire and empower young girls to embrace STEM fields from the rivers of Bakassi to the hills of Obanliku in Cross River State.”

“Now, a year later, the project’s impact has been both profound and far-reaching, with over 3,000 girls trained across the state’s three senatorial districts, equipped with critical skills in gaming, robotics, coding, and programming.”
