The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem, and Assembly members on Tuesday, attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Cross River State Government and Grandlitora Railway Project by His Excellency, Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu at the Tinapa Resort, in Calabar.
According to Governor Bassey Otu, the Grandlitora Railway Project will start in Calabar with substations in Ugeb, Ikom, and Ogoja and end in Obudu. It is expected to cost $350 million and take five years to complete.
The railway project is expected to provide Cross Riverians with a viable alternative to road transport for efficient movement of people and goods, as well as increase investment opportunities in the state.
