The All Progress Congress in Edo state has elected Senator Monday Okpebholo to be its governorship candidate after he defeated Dennis Idahosa, who was earlier declared the winner of the primary but later declared inconclusive by the APC National Working Committee.
Recall that APC had declared the primary election conducted under the chairmanship of Governor Hope Uzodinma inconclusive, and later replaced Uzodinma on Wednesday 21st February 2024 with Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State as the new chairman for the rescheduled primary election.
During the rescheduled primary election on Friday, 23rd February 2024, Monday Okpebholo polled 12,433 votes to defeat 11 other aspirants to become APC’s candidate. Senator Monday is currently the senator representing the Edo Central senatorial district.
