The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC),has expressed its readiness to participate fully in the Walkathon 4.0 Programme slated for September 30,2023 in Calabar.
Cross River State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Andrew Zemoh gave the assurance, when the organising committee of the annual event,led by its Chairman, Liyel Imoukhude and its co- Chairman,Eric Anderson to visit him at the NYSC headquarters.
Healthy Billionaire’s Walkathon 4.0 had chosen Drug Abuse and mental health as the theme for the 2023 edition of the carnival-like event ,which will be centred on advocacy and sensitization on the menace and consequences of illicit drugs.
Zemoh said the NYSC will be fully involved with five CDS group to participate along side top management and staff of the Scheme in the State.
He explained that NYSC Band,Drug Free, Medical and Health Services, reproductive health,editorial and Publicity among others have been enlisted for the one day 12kilometre event.
In the same vain, the Acting Chairman of Cross River State inland revenue Service, Edwin Okon , has called on the Healthy Billionaires fitness club to use the platform to educate citizens on prompt payment of taxes.
Okon said IRS under his watch will introduce tax harmonisation and do away with multiple consultants to enable it generate more funds and revenue in Cross River State.
The State IRS Boss, said Cross River Tax net is leaking ,but there is political will by the Governor to firm-up the leakages in the overall interests of the state.
He promised to partner with Healthy Billionaires Fitness Club in all of their activities ,saying IRS will soon unfold its agenda on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that will need involvement of the club.
Speaking separately at the meetings, Chairman of Walkathon 4.0, Liyel Imoukhude, said the 2023 edition promises to be loaded with activities that will provide platforms for different organizations and Government agencies to create awareness on War Against Illicit Drugs and Mental Health.
He said Cross River State will be a good place for all if the problem of drug abuse is either reduced to the barest minimum or completely erdicated.
The Secretary of Healthy Billionaires club, Sylva Bogbo, Senior Adviser,Bassey Archibong ,Head of Media and Publicity, Rasheed Olanrewaju as well as a member of the committee Victor Effiong were in the entourage of the Chairman.
